Web Whazzup

Web development is going through its own Web revolution - there are now over 30 sites that offer and promote Quick Easy Online Site preparation. No More HTML CSS JavaScript...and All That Obscure Coding!!! Web 2 is hurtling towards Web 3 [Very Easy To  Do-It-Yourself, Design Sophisticated Website Creation]. And given that HTML 5 et Cie are being posted as the cross platform tool of choice especially in the mobile arena maybe 30 vendors is not enough to get easy-to-use, truly cross platform, full touch/gesture, cloud inspired yet  offline enabled Web development going [most of what is available now is jQuery-driven JavaScript, some CSS3, and dabbles of HTML5].

Adobe Edge

Adobe is in the business of creating a number of tools that respond to the new DIY trend in Web development. This is important because Adobe is one of the last cross platform and relatively open large software developers in the business. 

Edge is a good  example of what Adobe is doing in the DIY space. This is an HTML5+ CSS + JavaScript animation tool[no HTML5 Canvas or SVG yet]. It ultimately will compete with Adobe's own Flash tool. However, right now it can only do pretty good banner ads. The Edge tools are still primitive though the layout and design surface or interface is pretty sophisticated. Because Adobe has promised to release Edge  by the first half of 2012 [its available as a freely downloaded beta here], users will get to see pretty quickly how good and solid a tool Edge will be.
